Klopp Reflects on 'Dream' Anfield Return as Dalglish's Assistant

Jurgen Klopp has described his return to Anfield last weekend as a 'dream come true' after serving as assistant manager to Sir Kenny Dalglish for the Liverpool Legends charity match against Borussia Dortmund.

The former Reds manager, who left his role at the end of last season, was back on Merseyside on Saturday and worked alongside club icons Ian Rush and John Aldridge in the technical area. It was Klopp's first visit to Anfield since watching Arne Slot's side secure the Premier League title on the final day of the campaign.

Liverpool took an early lead through Thiago Alcantara, who scored after just six minutes, before Jay Spearing doubled the advantage with a stunning strike before half-time. Dortmund fought back in the second half, with Mohamed Zidan and Jan Koller scoring to secure a draw.

Reflecting on the occasion, Klopp said: 'Enjoyed every second. My role was definitely not to have a lot of words. I was here for the Foundation and to be part of a really special experience.' He added that seeing former players from both Liverpool and Dortmund together was 'really, really, really nice'.

In a social media post, Klopp wrote: 'A dream you don't dare to dream became true: First time as an assistant coach in my life. What an honour to assist Sir Kenny, alongside Ian and John!'
