Jurgen Klopp has dismissed reports linking him with Real Madrid, branding them 'rubbish' and 'nonsense'. The former Liverpool manager, now Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer, reacted angrily to claims that he had been in contact with the Spanish club. 'They have not called me once, not a single time,' he said, sarcastically adding he would 'take over at Atletico Madrid as well, preferably at the same time'.
Klopp left Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season after a hugely successful tenure, taking a break before joining Red Bull in January 2025. German newspaper Bild has suggested the role does not fully utilise his man-management skills, but Klopp dismissed such speculation, calling the Austrian outlet behind the story 'idiots'.
Despite his current position, Klopp has not ruled out a return to management. 'For my age I'm quite advanced in life but as a coach I'm not completely finished,' he said. 'Who knows what will happen in the coming years? But there's nothing planned.' He has previously stated that if he ever returns to the Premier League, it would only be with Liverpool, calling a return 'theoretically possible'.
Klopp's dream role, however, appears to be managing the German national team. He rejected an approach in 2023 to stay at Liverpool, but the position has since been filled by Julian Nagelsmann. His agent, Marc Kosicke, hinted that Klopp feels a 'sense of obligation' to the role, suggesting he would find it difficult to turn down if it becomes available again.
