Manchester United are reportedly eyeing two Championship talents as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. According to Mail Online, the club is considering moves for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles and Leicester City defender Ben Nelson.
Charles, valued at £25 million, was previously signed by United's technical director Jason Wilcox during his time at Southampton. The defensive midfielder left Manchester City for St Mary's and is seen as a player who could 'prosper at the highest level'. United are close to signing Ederson from Atalanta but are expected to bring in two or three midfielders, with Manuel Ugarte likely to be sold and Casemiro already confirmed as leaving.
Nelson, 22, has also caught United's attention. The towering defender, who can play at left-back as well as centrally, has been watched by Manchester City and Leicester. He would provide depth alongside United's emerging talents.
United boss Michael Carrick has emphasised the importance of the upcoming transfer window, stating: 'I think the beauty of the next transfer window for everybody, it's always the biggest thing in the world, and the most important transfer window of all time for every club. That's just the nature of how it's been created.'
