Liverpool are drawing up plans to replace Mohamed Salah, with RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande emerging as a primary target. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has impressed in the Bundesliga, registering 23 goal involvements last season. His release clause is set at approximately £86 million, but the Reds are exploring a player-plus-cash deal to reduce the fee.
Diomande, who has nine senior caps for his country, fits Leipzig's model of developing young talent for profit. The German club have previously done business with Liverpool, including transfers of Naby Keita and Dominik Szoboszlai. The winger scored 13 goals this campaign and is seen as an ideal replacement on the right flank.
Liverpool are also monitoring Anthony Gordon's situation at Newcastle United, as the Magpies may need to sell a key player. Gordon, a boyhood Liverpool fan, was linked with the club several years ago. Another option is Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola, who has helped eliminate Liverpool from the Champions League in consecutive seasons. The club considered Barcola 12 months ago but opted against a move to avoid blocking Rio Ngumoha's path to the first team.
Manager Arne Slot acknowledged the importance of wingers in Liverpool's system, especially with Salah's departure. He noted that wingers were vital to last season's Premier League title success and that the club will likely sign at least one new wide player this summer.
