Manchester United have confirmed a one-year contract extension for Harry Maguire, with Kobbie Mainoo expected to follow suit shortly. The 33-year-old defender's previous deal was due to expire this summer, but he has now committed to the club until June 2027, with an option for a further year.
Maguire, who joined United from Leicester City for £80 million in 2019, has made 266 appearances for the club and served as captain from 2020 to 2023. He expressed his delight at extending his stay, stating: 'Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour.'
United's director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Maguire's professionalism and leadership, saying: 'Harry represents the mentality and resilience required to perform for Manchester United.'
Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo is reportedly close to agreeing a new five-year contract until 2031. The 19-year-old midfielder has regained a regular starting role under interim head coach Michael Carrick after being overlooked by predecessor Ruben Amorim. His current deal runs until 2027 but includes a club option for an extra year.
Both Maguire and Mainoo were recently recalled to the England squad by manager Thomas Tuchel for the final two games before the World Cup squad is named in May.
