Man Utd Make Bid for Botafogo Midfielder Danilo After Ederson Deal Nears

Manchester United have submitted an offer for Botafogo midfielder Danilo, according to reports in Brazil. The 25-year-old Brazil international is one of several midfield targets as the club prepares for Casemiro's departure.

United are close to finalising a £38 million move for Atalanta's Ederson, with personal terms already agreed. The club is also monitoring Elliot Anderson, Aurelien Tchouameni, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali, and Adam Wharton.

Danilo previously played in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest, joining in 2023 for £18 million, before being sold to Botafogo for £21 million. He suffered a serious ankle injury on the opening day of the 2024-25 season but returned to help Forest finish seventh.

UOL reports that AC Milan, Atalanta, and Zenit St Petersburg have also made offers for Danilo. Botafogo expect his value to rise during the World Cup and are in no rush to sell. Palmeiras and Flamengo are monitoring the situation, but Danilo prefers a return to Europe.

United's midfield rebuild is a top priority this summer, with at least two new signings planned. Anderson remains the club's first-choice target, but he is believed to favour a move to Manchester City.
