Man Utd Scout £52m Leao After Ignoring Cunha's Plea

Manchester United have continued their pursuit of AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, despite Matheus Cunha insisting the club does not need to sign another wide player. United scouts attended Milan's 0-0 draw with Juventus on Sunday night to watch the Portugal international, who is valued at around £52 million.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Leao is not considered 'untouchable' by Milan and could be tempted away from Serie A. The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his contract and has contributed 12 goals in 26 appearances this season. He has also attracted interest from Saudi Pro League clubs and Barcelona.

United are reportedly keen to revamp their squad and are targeting a new left winger, as per The Telegraph. This comes after Cunha, who joined the club in the summer, told interim boss Michael Carrick that he could play on the flank. Cunha has made 10 appearances at left wing this season, contributing five goals, and has also played as a centre-forward and No.10.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Cunha said: 'I know I have these skills to dribble... I said to him 'no, you can put me there and I will do the things.' Now when there's training, I dribble more, I have more winger qualities.' Despite his willingness to adapt, United's continued interest in Leao suggests they are exploring other options.

Carrick has praised the versatility of his attacking players, including Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. 'Between them, all of our front players can give us something different,' he said after the Chelsea victory. 'Those boys have shown their attributes, personalities and the flexibility where they can play in different roles.'
