Speaking about the deal, McGregor stated, 'I have secured a great deal with the UFC. I am very happy with the terms and I am ready to go.'

The bout will be a welterweight contest, a division in which Holloway has never competed. This rematch comes 13 years after McGregor defeated Holloway by decision in their first encounter. McGregor, now 37, expressed confidence in his physical and mental readiness, highlighting his extensive preparation and a strategic approach to potential in-fight challenges. He emphasized that he has learned from his last fight in 2021, where he suffered a broken leg.
