Rory McIlroy's Masters Dinner Menu Features Elk Sliders and Mother's Dish
McIlroy's Masters Dinner Menu: Elk Sliders and Family Touch

Rory McIlroy Unveils Personalised Masters Champions Dinner Menu

Reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy has revealed a distinctive and heartfelt menu for the prestigious Champions Dinner, set to take place on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. The Northern Irish golfer, who secured his career Grand Slam with a dramatic play-off victory over Justin Rose at Augusta National last April, will host this exclusive gathering for fellow past winners in the clubhouse during Masters week.

A Menu with Personal Touches and Nostalgia

McIlroy's curated selection features four appetisers that blend personal history with culinary adventure. Among them are grilled elk sliders, which the champion incorporated after consuming elk during his preparation for last year's tournament. "I didn't want elk to be the main course because I didn't know if everyone would like that," McIlroy explained. "I incorporated that into the appetisers so I'm doing grilled elk sliders, which I think is fun."

Another appetiser pays direct homage to his family: bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese, inspired by his mother Rosie's cooking. "My mum does these really, really nice dates stuffed with goat cheese wrapped in bacon, so I put those on the appetisers list," McIlroy stated. "So thanks to Rosie for that one." The remaining starters include rock shrimp tempura and peach and ricotta flatbread.

Sophisticated Courses and a Celebratory Wine Selection

For the first course, McIlroy has chosen Yellowfin tuna carpaccio, replicating a dish from Le Bernardin, his favourite restaurant in New York City. Main course options offer both luxury and comfort:

  • Wagyu filet mignon
  • Seared salmon

These are accompanied by Irish champ, a traditional dish of mashed potatoes with spring onions, followed by sticky toffee pudding for dessert. McIlroy described his overall selections as being "from the heart and from personal experience, and I guess a little bit of nostalgia for me of what I wanted to serve."

The 36-year-old champion expressed particular enthusiasm for the wine list, which reflects significant moments in his life. Highlights include:

  1. 2015 Salon Brut champagne
  2. 2022 Domaine Leflaive Batard Montrachet, the first white wine he "actually liked"
  3. 1990 Chateau Lafite Rothschild, enjoyed the night he won the Masters
  4. 1989 Chateau D'Yquem dessert wine from his birth year, described as "like liquid gold"

"I wanted to be really intentional with the wines," McIlroy said, highlighting his growing passion for collecting. "To work with the sommeliers at the club and be able to choose these wines was a lot of fun."

The Tradition and Timing of the Champions Dinner

The Masters Champions Dinner is a cherished tradition where the reigning champion hosts past winners on the Tuesday evening of tournament week. McIlroy's menu will be served two days before the 2026 Masters officially begins on Thursday, 9 April. His victory last year completed his career Grand Slam, making this dinner a particularly meaningful celebration of his achievement at Augusta National.
