Naomi Osaka's flair for fashion once again captured the spotlight on Tuesday at the French Open. The tennis star made a dramatic entrance onto Court Suzanne-Lenglen, wearing a ceremonial black skirt and a sleeveless beaded bodice that she later removed to unveil a sequined gold playing dress for her opening match.
Osaka's Fashion Philosophy
Speaking on Saturday, Osaka explained her love for fashion, stating, "I don't talk a lot, so that way I can talk through my clothes." She added, "I am a little dramatic when it comes to my fashion sense."
Walk-On Outfit Details
For her debut in Paris this year, Osaka entered the court wearing an embellished bodice structured to resemble armor, paired with a long pleated skirt over her playing attire. She removed these over-garments before commencing play against German opponent Laura Siegemund.
Earlier this year at the Australian Open, Osaka made headlines with a walk-on outfit featuring a wide-brim hat, a veil, and a white parasol. The four-time Grand Slam champion also recently turned heads at the Met Gala in New York with a show-stopping ensemble.
On Court Philippe-Chatrier, top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka also made a style statement, wearing two diamond necklaces for her opening win.
