Rashford In Shock Bayern Munich Transfer Talks

Marcus Rashford could be handed an escape route from his Manchester United nightmare by German giants Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions have emerged as shock contenders to sign the United outcast, who is not part of head coach Ruben Amorim's future plans.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, after falling out of favour with Amorim over the forward's perceived lack of focus and application in training. Villa declined to take up an option to sign Rashford for £40 million at the end of the loan agreement, leaving the 27-year-old facing an awkward return to United next week to start pre-season.

That has left the door open for other clubs to move for Rashford, with Bayern boss Vincent Kompany considering a move for the England star, according to reports from Germany. Bayern are said to have been impressed by Rashford's return to form at Villa, where he scored four goals and provided six assists before his season ended prematurely through injury.

Kompany is keen to bolster his attack this summer and Rashford is said to be on his radar, which could see the United star link up with England captain Harry Kane at Bayern. However, Rashford's £300,000-a-week wages are the biggest obstacle to him securing a permanent move away from United this summer, with the likelihood he will have to take a pay cut to do so.

If he is unwilling to take a pay cut or clubs are unable to match his current wages, Rashford – who is keen on a move to Barcelona – will have little choice but to go out on loan again next season. Bayern are keen to add further firepower to their attack from wide areas this summer, with Kingsley Coman the only established left-sided option.
