Record-Breaking Costs for European-Hosted Ryder Cup
The new pricing structure positions the 2027 Ryder Cup as the most expensive European-hosted edition in history. However, it remains lower than the $750 (£555) paid by spectators for Europe's victory over the US at Bethpage in New York last year. Richard Atkinson, the chief Ryder Cup officer, explained to BBC Sport that the increase reflects changes over the past four years, including global economic shifts, while emphasising efforts to keep the event accessible to a broad demographic.
Practice Day and Junior Ticket Options
To mitigate the high daily costs, organisers have introduced more affordable options for practice days. Tickets for Tuesday and Wednesday sessions will be priced at €89 for adults and €20 for children, rising to €179 and €30 for Thursday, which includes the opening ceremony. Atkinson highlighted that these lower-tier tickets are designed to attract families and younger fans, ensuring the Ryder Cup remains inclusive despite the premium pricing for main event days.
Enhanced Fan Experience and Historical Context
In response to the price hikes, Ryder Cup Europe has promised an "enhanced onsite experience" for attendees, featuring a record 20,000 grandstand seats and an increased number of giant screens.
