Jadon Sancho's Manchester United nightmare could be coming to an end as the out-of-favour winger closes in on a sensational return to Borussia Dortmund.
The 23-year-old England international has been training alone since September after a public falling-out with manager Erik ten Hag, and now appears set for a January loan move back to the Bundesliga giants where he made his name.
Sancho's United Struggles
Sancho's £73m move to Old Trafford in 2021 has failed to deliver on its promise, with the former Manchester City academy graduate struggling for consistency under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ten Hag.
The situation reached breaking point earlier this season when Ten Hag publicly criticised Sancho's training performances, prompting the player to hit back on social media in a now-deleted post.
Dortmund Come to the Rescue
Dortmund, where Sancho scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 appearances between 2017-2021, are understood to be keen to bring their former star back to Signal Iduna Park.
The German club are reportedly negotiating a loan deal until the end of the season, with United likely to subsidise a portion of Sancho's £250,000-a-week wages.
What This Means for United
Sancho's potential departure leaves Ten Hag with limited options on the right wing, though it could pave the way for academy graduate Facundo Pellistri to get more first-team opportunities.
The move also raises questions about United's recruitment strategy, with Sancho becoming the latest big-money signing to struggle at the Theatre of Dreams.
