Manchester United fought back from a goal down to beat 10-man Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford, with Benjamin Sesko continuing his hot streak. The victory moved Michael Carrick's side up to third in the Premier League table.
Palace took an early lead through Maxence Lacroix's fourth-minute header from Brennan Johnson's corner. United struggled in the first half but were handed a lifeline when Lacroix was sent off for pulling back Matheus Cunha in the box, with Bruno Fernandes converting the resulting penalty.
Fernandes then turned provider, crossing for Sesko to head home the winner in the second half. The Slovenian now has nine goals for United, seven in his last eight appearances. Carrick said of his in-form striker: 'Benjamin is in a good place and he has had a major impact in recent weeks.'
Palace manager Oliver Glasner questioned the penalty decision, claiming the foul started outside the box. 'It is decisive when you are 1-0 up and then concede a penalty and then have one player less,' he said. 'The foul was outside the box and should be given where it starts.'
United have taken 19 points from 21 under Carrick, a stark contrast to last season's 15th-place finish. The interim manager remained cautious, saying: 'It doesn't mean an awful lot at the moment. We want to keep progressing.'
