TY Hilton Officially Retires from NFL After 11 Seasons
Three full seasons after his last NFL catch, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver TY Hilton has officially announced his retirement from professional football. The four-time Pro Bowler, who was a cornerstone of the Colts' success throughout the 2010s, last appeared on the field during the 2022 season for the Dallas Cowboys.
A Heartfelt Farewell Statement
On Wednesday, the 36-year-old athlete confirmed he will not be pursuing a return to the league. In a statement shared across his social media platforms, Hilton expressed gratitude and reflection. 'After an incredible journey, it's time for me to retire from the game of football and begin a new chapter,' Hilton declared.
He extended special thanks to Colts owner Jim Irsay and the entire Indianapolis organization for believing in 'a kid from Miami' and providing him the opportunity to live out his dream wearing the iconic horseshoe. Hilton also acknowledged the Dallas Cowboys for allowing him to continue playing the sport he loves during his final professional stint.
Memorable Career Highlights and Statistics
Hilton, a Miami native who excelled at Florida International University, entered the NFL as the 92nd overall pick in the third round of the 2012 draft. He quickly established himself as a premier receiver in Indianapolis, succeeding legend Reggie Wayne as the team's primary target.
Throughout his eleven-year career, Hilton achieved remarkable consistency with five separate 1,000+ yard receiving seasons. His most outstanding performance came in 2016 when he led the entire NFL with 1,448 receiving yards. His final thousand-yard campaign occurred in 2018.
After remaining unsigned during the 2022 free agency period, Hilton eventually joined the Cowboys, appearing in three games that season. His career concludes with impressive totals of 9,812 receiving yards and 53 touchdowns.
Gratitude for Teammates, Fans, and Family
In his retirement announcement, Hilton expressed deep appreciation for the relationships forged throughout his career. 'To my teammates - thank you for the brotherhood. The early mornings, long practices and the battles on Sundays are memories I'll carry with me forever,' he stated emotionally.
He reserved special recognition for Colts fans, recalling 'running out of that tunnel at Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time' and emphasizing how their unwavering support meant everything from his very first day. Finally, Hilton thanked his family and friends for their sacrifices and constant belief in him, concluding with the heartfelt declaration: 'FOREVER A COLT.'
