Alonso Accuses FIA of Ignoring Turn One Chaos in Mexico

Fernando Alonso has criticised the FIA for failing to penalise drivers who gained an advantage by cutting the first corner at the Mexican Grand Prix. The two-time world champion believes the stewards turned a blind eye to incidents that allowed some drivers to make up positions unfairly.

Speaking after the race, Alonso said: 'A couple of cars went just straight in Turn Two and Three, and then they rejoined like three or four cars in front of me. It's a little bit unfair. It's the second time in a row that on the first lap in the first corner, the FIA is looking to the other side.'

The Aston Martin driver specifically referenced Max Verstappen's move around the outside at Turn One, where the Dutchman ran onto the grass and emerged ahead of a rival before handing the place back. Alonso argued that such actions should result in penalties, but the stewards decided not to investigate.

Alonso warned that he would now adopt a similar approach in future races. 'We will try to take advantage of the next time there is a similar situation,' he told ESPN. 'Hopefully we will be on the other side.'

Alonso's own race ended early due to brake overheating issues, forcing a retirement on lap 34. The Spaniard has endured a frustrating second half of the season, with Aston Martin currently sitting three points behind Racing Bulls in the Constructors' Championship.
