The announcement, made on 15th January 2026, solidifies the team's future direction both in F1 and across multiple racing disciplines.
New Faces and Key Roles for the F1 Squad
The headline move sees Lando Norris preparing to welcome a fresh team-mate into the primary McLaren F1 garage for the 2026 campaign, though the identity of that driver was not disclosed in this particular announcement. Bolstering the support structure, reigning Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli steps into the role of F1 Reserve Driver. The Italian prodigy will undertake an intensive testing and simulator programme, positioning him for potential FP1 sessions throughout the season.
