Aidan Oldenburg, a 24-year-old member of the US men's curling team, has quickly become a fan favourite, drawing comparisons to Stephen Nedoroscik, the bespectacled, Rubik's Cube-solving gymnastics star who won two bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Unlikely Appeal and Unique Style
Oldenburg has attracted widespread attention for his distinctive look, which includes glasses, a thick thatch of hair, and a red bandana reminiscent of Sylvester Stallone's character in the Rambo movies. He says the bandana started as "a bit of a joke" during a tournament last year, when he decided to buy headbands for his team to wear before a game. After his team, skipped by Danny Casper, qualified for the Olympics, Oldenburg made the bandana a permanent part of his attire, citing its utility in keeping sweat out of his eyes in the hot arena.
