Chipotle Launches 'I Win' Bowl Honouring Indiana Hoosiers Coach Curt Cignetti
Chipotle's 'I Win' Bowl for Coach Cignetti

In a unique tribute to sporting excellence, Chipotle has unveiled a new nationwide menu item dedicated to Indiana Hoosiers head football coach Curt Cignetti. This culinary honour follows the Hoosiers' historic undefeated season, which culminated in a thrilling 27-21 victory over Miami in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday.

A Bowl Fit for a Champion

The special dish, named "Coach Cignetti's 'I Win' Bowl," is inspired by the coach's daily lunch order. It features brown rice, black beans, chicken, and a side of guacamole, mirroring the meal Cignetti has reportedly ordered approximately 500 times since joining Indiana in November 2023, excluding travel days.

Rewarding a Dedicated Fanbase

To celebrate this achievement, Chipotle is offering Indiana fans a special promotion. On Thursday after 4 p.m., supporters wearing team gear can receive a free entrée with the purchase of one at Chipotle locations across the state. This buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) offer is designed to reward the passionate fanbase that has rallied behind the team's remarkable success.

Stephanie Perdue, Interim Chief Marketing Officer of Chipotle, expressed the company's enthusiasm in a statement. "This team's historic run has energized fans across the state," she said. "This BOGO offer rewards a dedicated fan base and honours a team with the same commitment to excellence that we bring to our restaurants every day."

The Story Behind the Name

The bowl's distinctive name references Cignetti's now-iconic quote from his introductory press conference, where he boldly declared, "I win. Google me." This statement has gained such notoriety that searching his name on Google triggers the playful message, "Yup, he won."

A Loyal Customer with Impressive Rewards

Cignetti's fondness for Chipotle is well-documented, with his orders typically placed through the assistant director of football operations Jake McDonald's Chipotle Rewards account. According to the company, this account has accumulated enough points to rank in the top 1 percent statewide in Indiana.

McDonald, who has been responsible for picking up the coach's bowl for the past two years, shared insights with the Wall Street Journal. "He just wants to be able to eat it, watch his film and go for the next game," McDonald explained. "He's a simple man."

Perks of Being the 'Burrito Guy'

Acting as Cignetti's designated "burrito guy" has its advantages. McDonald once amassed approximately 64,000 Chipotle Rewards points, equivalent to roughly $6,400 worth of burrito bowls. Following Indiana's playoff semifinal win, his account held 18,529 points, which could be redeemed for 11 free burritos, 37 sides of guacamole, 53 bags of chips, or 218 extra tortillas.

A Longstanding Culinary Tradition

While the exact origin of Cignetti's daily Chipotle habit remains unclear, his preference for repetitive meals dates back 15 years to his first head coaching role at IUP. Brett Ullman, a former IUP punter, recalled this consistency to the Journal. "It would be chicken and zucchini or squash," he said. "We never ate differently except the one time we made it pretty far in the playoffs. We got steak."

Future Prospects and Recognition

Despite his evident fandom, Cignetti has not yet been included in Chipotle's "Celebrity Card" programme, which provides select superfans like the late Ozzy Osbourne, rapper Big Sean, and NBA player Mikal Bridges with a daily free entrée, side, and drink. A Chipotle spokesperson confirmed prior to the championship game, "We are aware of Coach Cignetti's fandom and have been in contact with his management."

Looking ahead, Cignetti aims to build on this success, with Indiana ranked No. 3 in Yahoo Sports' early 2026 top-25 predictions despite the departure of quarterback Fernando Mendoza to the NFL Draft. The launch of this menu item serves as a delicious reminder of a season that captured the imagination of college football fans nationwide.
