The historic feat was sealed with an emphatic bonus-point victory over English giants Saracens at a raucous Scotstoun Stadium. This triumph followed impressive wins against European heavyweights Toulouse and Clermont, as well as a hard-fought victory over Sale Sharks over the past month. The comprehensive 31-13 win against Saracens was built on a blistering first-half performance where the Warriors scored three tries through Ollie Smith, Kyle Steyn, and George Horne, before Seb Stephen secured the bonus point late in the second half.
Capitalising on Home Advantage
The top-two finish guarantees Glasgow home advantage throughout the entire knockout phase, starting with a last-16 tie against the Bulls from South Africa. Smith was quick to emphasise that this advantage is merely a potential opportunity that must be seized. He pointed to last season's painful quarter-final exit away to Leinster as a lesson, noting that a host of injuries at the time would have made a home fixture far more beneficial.
"It's only an opportunity if you make use of it," Smith stated. "If we go to the Aviva, if we go to any of the top teams that we are facing in this competition, it's tough. Hopefully, Scotstoun will give us that confidence that we have won a lot of games here as well."
