Social media sensation and former LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne commanded attention with a show-stopping appearance at a prestigious baseball awards ceremony on Saturday night. Dunne was present to support her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates pitching star Paul Skenes, as he was honoured at the annual Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA) Awards Dinner in New York City.
A Night of Recognition and Glamour
The event celebrated Skenes's phenomenal 2025 season, during which the 23-year-old pitcher delivered a masterclass performance. His efforts were formally recognised with the presentation of the National League Cy Young Award, the highest pitching honour in the league. Impressively, Skenes secured a unanimous victory, earning all 30 first-place votes from the voting chapters representing every MLB team.
Dunne's Dazzling Red Carpet Moment
While the night belonged to Skenes's athletic achievement, Livvy Dunne undoubtedly stole a portion of the spotlight with her fashion choice. The influencer wowed attendees and fans alike by wearing a striking, fiery red gown crafted from crushed velvet. The fitted dress featured an asymmetrical neckline and intricate ruched detailing on the bodice, perfectly showcasing her toned physique.
Dunne complemented the dramatic outfit with a beauty look to match. She wore her signature platinum blonde hair in loose, flowing waves down her back. Her makeup added a touch of glamour, with a smoky-eye effect that enhanced the overall sophisticated and slightly dramatic flair of her ensemble.
Celebrating the Couple's Milestone
The Gen Z power couple, who have been dating since 2023 after meeting during their time at Louisiana State University, shared the special moment. Dunne took to her Instagram story to give followers a glimpse of the evening, posting photos and videos that highlighted her stunning outfit. She also shared a snap of Skenes looking dashing in a burgundy dinner jacket paired with a classic black bowtie.
Skenes's Meteoric Rise and Future Focus
The award caps a remarkable start to Paul Skenes's major league career. In just his second season, he led all of Major League Baseball with a stellar 1.97 Earned Run Average (ERA) and recorded 216 strikeouts over 187.2 innings pitched. This made him the first starting pitcher since 2022 to achieve a sub-2.00 ERA.
Selected first overall by the Pirates in the 2023 MLB Draft, Skenes immediately impressed with a 1.96 ERA across 23 starts in his rookie year. Despite his personal success, the Pirates have struggled as a team, finishing at the bottom of the National League Central for two consecutive seasons with a combined record of 147-177. This lack of team success has not yet allowed Skenes to experience postseason play.
These team struggles have inevitably sparked trade speculation, with rumours earlier this offseason linking the ace pitcher to franchises like the New York Yankees. However, Skenes has publicly addressed and dismissed these rumours. In comments to the Daily Mail last November, he referenced ESPN insider Jeff Passan's lack of reporting on the matter as a sign of their baseless nature.
'Rumors are rumors,' Skenes stated, 'I was frustrated for a little bit, but it doesn't really matter. I've had some time to think about it, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to speak to the Pittsburgh media and clear the air over nothing, basically. It is what it is.' He emphasised his current focus remains squarely on helping to turn the Pirates' fortunes around in Pittsburgh, where he is under team control for the remainder of the decade.
