The date for the 34th BTR Liverpool Half Marathon has been confirmed as Sunday, March 14, 2027. The race will again start from Everton Football Club's Hill Dickinson Stadium on the Liverpool waterfront, following a change implemented in 2025 that allowed for an additional 3,000 places.
Record Participation and Sell-Out Streak
This year's race in March 2025 was the biggest ever, with 15,000 runners taking over the city centre. The event sold out at 12,000 places in both 2023 and 2024. The move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium from Pier Head Liverpool enabled the increase to 15,000 places, resulting in a fourth consecutive sell-out expected for 2027. BTR Liverpool anticipate high demand and urge early registration.
Route Changes and Finish Line
For 2025, the first four miles of the route were updated to include more city centre landmarks such as Liverpool Town Hall, Chinese Arch, and Liverpool Cathedral. The race will continue to finish at Pier Head Liverpool in front of the Three Graces: the Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building, and Port of Liverpool Building, under the iconic Liver Birds.
Registration and Refund Options
Runners who have already registered will be contacted directly. Those unable to attend the confirmed date can transfer their entry to another BTR event in 2026 or 2027 free of charge, transfer to another runner, or receive a refund. Entries are open now.
Founder's Statement
Alan Rothwell, BTR Liverpool founder, said: "We’re excited to announce the confirmed date for the BTR Liverpool Half Marathon 2027. Now the date is locked in, anticipation will really start to build and entries will continue to rise. Over the last few years the race has jumped to another level, selling out for three consecutive years and is enjoying unprecedented growth. It’s always been popular and had a loyal following, but now it’s become a ‘must do’ in the race calendar. We’re attracting more international runners, and seeing the streets of the city on race day lined with spectators is always encouraging."
