The months turned into weeks, the weeks into days, and soon only hours remain before Scotland's long-awaited return to the World Cup stage. The past six tournaments have been mediocre at best, and downright depressing for Scottish fans, as the Tartan Army has been absent from the greatest show on Earth since 1998. Twenty-eight agonizingly long years.
But thanks to that magical night in November when Scotland dismantled Denmark with some of the greatest goals Hampden has ever witnessed, the nation has been counting down the hours. The World Cup kicks off tonight at 8 p.m. when Mexico takes on South Africa, but the real big one is just a few days away when Steve Clarke's side faces Haiti.
Excited? You bet. Follow all the latest updates from our boys Stateside as Scotland returns to the World Cup. It's all here live!
Aaron Hickey on Best Birthday Ever
Aaron Hickey turned 24 yesterday. He was presented with a cake he wasn't allowed to eat. There wasn't a drop of alcohol in sight, and he was sent to bed early. But this was the greatest birthday of his young life nonetheless, and he knows it might never be bettered should he live to see 100 more. Nothing can possibly get better than this. Hickey is here in his Scotland training kit, preparing to represent his country at a World Cup Finals. The Brentford man is quite literally living the dream.
'Flabby' Scotland Claim
Furious Scotland fans have let rip over a claim that their first World Cup in 28 years is only happening because the tournament has become 'flabby.' ITV aired a feature led by host Mark Pougatch, featuring Roy Keane and Ian Wright, where the trio praised Steve Clarke's side and their potential to become the first Scots side to reach the knockouts. Belief is soaring and spirits are high ahead of our Group C opener against Haiti in the wee hours of Sunday morning, before taking on Morocco and Brazil.
