Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has declared his squad has ascended to "another level" this season, providing a timely boost as the Premier League leaders navigate a hectic festive period and eye potential January reinforcements.

While the primary focus remains on a gripping title battle, Arsenal have been credited with an interest in AC Milan's promising young goalkeeper, Lorenzo Torriani. Torriani reportedly entered Arsenal's radar after an impressive performance against them in a pre-season friendly, where he notably saved three penalties. The academy product has made two senior appearances for Milan and is currently featuring for their Under-23 side.
Although he is expected to stay with the Italian giants in January, a loan move to Serie B is being considered to aid his development. Milan are planning for a future beyond current number one Mike Maignan, whose contract is winding down, but a bid from Arsenal could potentially disrupt their long-term strategy for the highly-rated prospect.

"We've gone to another level this season," Arteta stated. "Last season, at times, we had 13 or 14 outfield players competing [for places]. It's not enough, and we've gone and increased the numbers and certainly the quality."
He praised the versatility and powerful complement of the new additions, highlighting how well they have adapted. Reflecting on previous near-misses, Arteta acknowledged that Arsenal produced "very, very strong numbers" last season but were hampered by injuries at a critical juncture.
"So almost everything has to be perfect in this league to give yourself the chance to win it," he continued. "And now this season, again, we're producing very, very strong numbers in all departments, and we need to continue to go for another six months."
