Barcelona Push for Discount in Marcus Rashford Permanent Transfer Talks
Barcelona Seek Cheaper Rashford Deal from Man Utd

Barcelona are locked in negotiations with Manchester United in an attempt to secure Marcus Rashford on a permanent transfer for a cut-price fee, according to reports.

Catalan Giants Hesitate on Clause

The La Liga champions are reportedly reluctant to trigger the €30 million (£26 million) purchase option included in the 28-year-old's current loan deal. Instead, club officials are pushing to agree on a reduced sum with their Premier League counterparts.

Discussions are ongoing, with further talks expected before the season concludes. Manchester United are believed to view the existing clause as a fair valuation and are keen to capitalise on the player's sale. Barcelona, however, may hold an advantage as Rashford has publicly expressed his desire to remain at the Camp Nou beyond his loan spell.

Rashford's Camp Nou Ambition

The England international, who joined on loan at the start of the 2025/26 campaign, has made no secret of his wish to stay in Catalonia. "Of course what I want is to stay at Barca," Rashford stated. "It's an end goal... Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles."

His contribution so far has been notable, with seven goals and 11 assists in 27 appearances. He also recently celebrated winning the Supercopa, coming off the bench in Barcelona's 3-2 victory over Real Madrid in Jeddah.

The Financial Logic of a Deal

European football expert Andy Brassell has highlighted why Rashford represents a shrewd potential signing for Barcelona from a financial perspective. "He's maybe the cheapest financial deal out there," Brassell observed. "It feels like one of the best deals for Barcelona because they know he works there already. There's not as much risk as buying a player fresh."

The potential departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires this summer, could also free up significant wage funds and create a more prominent role for Rashford next season.

While a second loan with an obligation to buy has been considered, the priority for all parties appears to be finding a permanent solution. Should an agreement be reached, it is reported that Rashford would be offered a contract until the summer of 2029.
