West Ham's Niclas Fullkrug in Italy for AC Milan medical ahead of loan move
Fullkrug in Italy for AC Milan medical ahead of loan

West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug is on the verge of a January exit, with the German international arriving in Italy on Monday afternoon to undergo a medical with Serie A giants AC Milan.

Loan Deal Agreed Between Clubs

The 32-year-old forward travelled after AC Milan agreed a loan deal with an option to buy for £12 million. As part of the arrangement, the Italian club will take on the entirety of Fullkrug's salary for the remainder of the season. Talks between the two clubs are now at an advanced stage, aiming to finalise a loan until the end of the campaign.

Limited Opportunities at London Stadium Prompt Exit

Fullkrug's potential departure comes after he found first-team opportunities limited under new West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo. Since his £19 million move from Borussia Dortmund in August 2024, his debut season in East London has been hampered by injuries. He has managed just nine appearances this term, scoring three goals in 28 total outings for the Hammers.

West Ham's Search for a Replacement Striker

With Fullkrug set to depart, West Ham have already begun their search for attacking reinforcements. The club has made an enquiry for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. However, any move for the Norwegian could prove expensive, as Wolves value him above the £55 million they rejected from Newcastle United last August.

In addition to their striker search, the Hammers are also interested in Fulham winger Adama Traoré and have held talks regarding the powerful Spaniard. Defensive reinforcements are also being considered, with conversations taking place with FC Utrecht for left-back Souffian El Karouani.

One player not on their shortlist, however, is Norwich City's Josh Sargent, indicating a focused approach to their January business as they look to reshape their squad under Nuno.
