Only 1% Can Solve This 'Impossible' Brainteaser — Which Cup Fills First?

A tricky brainteaser shared on social media has left many scratching their heads, with only 1% of people reportedly able to solve it. The puzzle, posted by Daily Quiz and Riddles on X (formerly Twitter), shows seven cups under a tap and asks: 'Which cup gets filled first?'

At first glance, Cup 4 might seem the obvious answer as it sits at the bottom. However, closer inspection reveals that the pipe connecting Cup 3 and Cup 4 is sealed, blocking any water flow. Similarly, Cups 5 and 6 have obstructions in their connecting pipes, ruling them out.

Cup 7 has a hole at the bottom, meaning any water that reaches it from Cup 2 will simply leak out. Cup 2 is also unlikely to fill because it is connected to the leaky Cup 7 and its pipe from Cup 1 is higher than the one leading to Cup 3.

The correct answer is Cup 3. It is linked to Cup 1 via a pipe lower than the one to Cup 2, making it the only vessel that can feasibly contain and fill with water. The puzzle has sparked debate online, with one user commenting, 'That's tricky,' while another grumbled, 'This is cheating, 4 is plugged.'

Regular brainteasers like this are a great way to keep your problem-solving skills sharp, whether through crosswords, sudoku, or video games. So, did you get it right?
