Google has unveiled its Pixel 10 series, featuring a major upgrade to its Gemini AI assistant. The new Magic Cue feature allows the chatbot to scan your digital life and pull up relevant information when you need it most, such as displaying flight booking details from Gmail during a call to an airline or suggesting a coffee shop and showing your calendar when a friend texts about brunch.
The Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro Fold all run on the new Tensor G5 chip, which processes AI tasks locally on the device. Leo Gebbie, principal analyst at CCS Insight, said Google was “arguably positioning on-device AI more effectively than any of its rivals” and that Magic Cue was “an early step towards the much-vaunted agentic AI experiences”. He added that Google can leverage users’ existing data in Gmail, Calendar and Maps to offer more helpful insights.
The Pixel 10 features a 6.3in OLED screen and an upgraded camera system with a 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto lens, bringing the total rear cameras to three. The Pixel 10 Pro offers a choice of 6.3in or 6.8in screens and includes a 48MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is one of the first folding phones with full IP68 water and dust resistance, and has a similar camera setup to the Pixel 10.
New AI photography features include Camera Coach, which uses Google’s AI servers to analyse the scene and suggest better framing, angles and lighting. The Pixel 10 starts at £799, the Pixel 10 Pro at £999, and both ship on 28 August. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold costs £1,749 and ships on 9 October.
Google also announced the Pixel Watch 4, which brings Gemini to the wrist as a personal AI health coach. It can create personalised fitness and sleep plans, measure training impact in real time, and answer health questions. The watch is the first to offer SOS satellite-based emergency services (US only) and is designed for serviceability, with replaceable battery and screen. It costs from £349.
Additionally, the Pixel Buds 2a earbuds were unveiled at £129, featuring the Tensor A1 chip, noise cancelling and integrated Gemini AI. The charging case has a replaceable battery, though the earbuds themselves are not repairable.
