Assassin's Creed Shadows 1.1.7 Update Fixes Major Nintendo Switch 2 Issues
AC Shadows Update Fixes Major Nintendo Switch 2 Problems

Ubisoft has rolled out a substantial new update for its feudal Japan-set action RPG, Assassin's Creed Shadows, delivering crucial fixes and fresh content across all platforms, with a particular focus on the recently launched Nintendo Switch 2.

What's New in Update 1.1.7?

The version 1.1.7 update, released on December 17, 2025, is a significant patch that introduces several new features for players. Most notably, both protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, have received additional finisher animations to make combat more visually dynamic.

Explorers can also delve into a brand new Animus Rift called 'Lost and Found', which challenges players to uncover secrets and solve puzzles across digital landscapes. A fresh Project, named 'Defiance', rewards completion with a Bo staff weapon. The update further expands the in-game economy with the addition of Vault Access in the Animus Menu and new Gold, Mastery, and Knowledge Points in the Exchange.

Critical Nintendo Switch 2 Enhancements

For owners of the Nintendo Switch 2, where the game launched on December 2, this patch is arguably the most important yet. It directly addresses several teething problems reported since release. Key improvements include:

  • Enhanced FPS performance for smoother gameplay.
  • Fixed crashes to improve overall stability.
  • Resolved various visual glitches.
  • Improved the touchscreen experience in handheld mode.

Ubisoft has also squashed some particularly frustrating bugs, such as the console incorrectly prompting for a controller connection when docking or undocking, and an infinite black screen that could occur when creating or logging into a Ubisoft Connect account.

Gameplay Fixes and File Sizes

Beyond platform-specific fixes, the update applies numerous gameplay corrections. An exploit allowing double engravings on the Sword of Fathoms has been removed, and an issue preventing the sale of Naginatas is now resolved. The patch also ensures that shared skills are correctly learned by both characters and fixes problems with Mastery point tracking and skill upgrades.

The update's file size varies by platform. It is largest on Xbox Series X at 16.64GB and PC at 13.06GB. PlayStation 5 users will download 4.53GB, while Mac requires 9GB. The most efficient download is on the Nintendo Switch 2, which comes in at just 3.66GB.

This comprehensive patch demonstrates Ubisoft's commitment to refining the Assassin's Creed Shadows experience post-launch, ensuring stability on the newest console hardware while enriching the game for all players with additional content and polished mechanics.
