UK packaging firm supplying Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's liquidated

Affinity Packaging Ltd, a Lancashire-based food packaging supplier whose products are stocked in major UK supermarkets including Tesco, Morrisons, and Sainsbury's, has entered liquidation. Liquidators were appointed on June 17, 2026, according to The Gazette, after the company breached its Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

Company Background and Clients

Affinity Packaging described itself as a provider of 'innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions for businesses of all sizes; from local enterprises to multinational corporations,' according to its website. The firm had worked with brands such as Swizzels, producing the 'Refreshers Original' carton since 2007, which it called 'one of our most valued and significant customers.'

The company's products were also found on the shelves of Tesco, Morrisons, and Sainsbury's, indicating a wide retail presence.

Liquidation and CVA Breach

Dominik Thiel-Czerwinke and Louise Donna Baxter of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint liquidators by the court. The Appointment of Liquidators statement read: 'Notice is also hereby given that creditors of the Company who have not yet proved their debts, should submit their proof of debt to the joint liquidators at their correspondence address.'

In 2025, the business entered a CVA, but the winding up followed a breach of this agreement. The notice of termination or full implementation of voluntary arrangement stated: 'The Company has failed to comply with the terms of the Company's Voluntary Arrangement, which has resulted in three notice of breaches being issued each on separate occasions.'

It added: 'A breach was issued to the Directors on 4 March 2026 for failure to make payments to HM Revenue and Customs when due. The Company failed to remedy the breach within the prescribed 30 days and solicitors were instructed to present a petition for the winding up of the Company. The petition was filed on 30 April 2026.'

Debt and Creditors

At the start of the arrangement, the total sum owed to creditors stood at £2,465,901, according to the document. The company's failure to meet its obligations, particularly to HMRC, led to the liquidation.
