Fox News Host Admits Network Targets Elderly Viewers

Fox News host Jesse Watters has acknowledged that the network's advertising primarily targets older audiences, drawing criticism for ageist remarks. During a segment on “The Five,” Watters mocked the network's commercials and demographic, stating that viewers would be “watching Fox until they die.”

Watters referenced products and services commonly advertised on Fox News, such as reverse mortgages, gold, and Relief Factor, as examples of content aimed at seniors. He argued that Fox News must keep its audience happy with familiar content, adding, “That’s why people will be watching Fox until they die.”

According to Nielsen, the median age for Fox News viewers is 69. The network has faced scrutiny over its aging audience, with former host Tucker Carlson and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene both criticising the demographic focus. Carlson described the network as using propaganda to “knock elderly Fox viewers off their feet,” while Greene noted that the older viewership is “not the future of America.”
