Curtis Pritchard has finally disclosed the reason behind his mysterious failure to complete the London Marathon alongside his brother AJ last month. The Love Island star, 30, had heavily promoted his participation for charity, but while his Strictly star sibling, 31, crossed the finish line, Curtis was nowhere to be seen.
Injury Forces Withdrawal
Curtis has now explained that old knee and hip injuries, which were exacerbated during the tenth mile, forced him to drop out. He stated, 'My left knee, I've had to have all the cartilage removed on it. And my right knee, I've torn my cartilage in it and stuff from dancing and all of this back in the day.'
Curtis, who was raising money for Marie Curie, went on to explain that he made the decision to pull out to avoid any further injury ahead of an upcoming boxing match. He said, 'I knew if I pushed through to continue the marathon, I wouldn't be training today and I definitely wouldn't be doing my fight.'
He told The Sun, 'So I had to really weigh it up and decided, no, I think I need to pull out of the marathon where I've got to now so I can continue my training.' Just days before the race, both brothers appeared in a social media video urging their fans to donate.
Other Love Island Stars Shine
Meanwhile, Laura Wood became the fastest ever Love Island star to complete the 26.2-mile marathon, crossing the finish line with a time of 04:33:32. Following behind was villa co-star Dejon Noel-Williams, who crossed the line at 4:56:11.
World Records at London Marathon
Sabastian Sawe won the London Marathon after running the fastest race in history, smashing the world record in under two hours. The extraordinary feat saw the Kenyan athlete pass the finish line in a time of one hour 59 minutes and 30 seconds. He was followed by Yomif Kejelcha in second place and Jacob Kiplimo in third.
Tigst Assefa won the elite women's London Marathon race, claiming her second consecutive victory and also setting a new world record. The enduring athlete passed the finishing line in two hours 15 minutes and 41 seconds, nine seconds quicker than her 2025 time.
Daddy Pig Raises Funds
Daddy Pig raised a massive £57,000 after running the marathon with Joe Wicks over the weekend. The beloved character from Peppa Pig successfully completed the 26.2 miles in 5 hours and 51 minutes and 53 seconds. Daddy Pig was supported on the route around the city by fitness star Joe as he raised the staggering amount of money for the National Deaf Children's Society.
The character swapped his wellies for trainers in both real life and in an upcoming episode of Peppa Pig after son George Pig was revealed to be moderately deaf. During the big day, Daddy Pig became one of the most talked about runners on the course as fans believed the beloved character was Grammy Award winner Harry Styles in disguise. A conspiracy theory has been circulating that the running-loving One Direction star, 32, completed the marathon dressed as Daddy Pig when fans noticed the pig's height and running style.
