Barcelona sporting director Deco is expected to attend the FA Cup final today to evaluate Chelsea forward Joao Pedro. The 48-year-old former Chelsea midfielder has been in London this week for meetings to formulate summer transfer plans.
Barcelona's Striker Search
With Robert Lewandowski nearing the end of his career, Barcelona are seeking a striker who fits their system. Joao Pedro has emerged as a prime candidate. The Brazilian joined Chelsea from Brighton for £55 million a year ago and has been one of their few successes, scoring 20 goals in his debut season.
Chelsea's Stance
Chelsea insist they have no intention of selling Joao Pedro, viewing him as part of their plans despite targeting new forwards in the transfer window. Meanwhile, talks have taken place with Xabi Alonso, who is the favourite to become Chelsea's new manager, though discussions have also been held with Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, and Marco Silva.
Barcelona's Other Targets
Barcelona's pursuit of Joao Pedro does not affect their desire to sign Marcus Rashford. However, due to financial constraints, they aim to negotiate a cheap deal with Manchester United for the England international.
