Katie Piper has lifted the lid on her fridge staples, sharing her alcohol hack and guilty food pleasures. The 42-year-old TV star, known for her role on Loose Women, detailed her daily eating habits, weekly grocery spending, and family mealtime routines.
Weekly Food Shop and Daily Diet
Katie revealed that her household spends approximately £200 per week on groceries, with a consistent repeat shopping order. Her typical day starts with hard-boiled eggs on her way to work, while lunch often consists of a chicken wrap, providing the carbohydrates she needs for her active lifestyle. Despite her busy schedule, the mother of two ensures that she, her husband Richard Sutton, and their daughters Belle, 11, and Penelope, seven, sit down for dinner together every evening. Favorites include Shepherd's Pie and spaghetti Bolognese, while weekends are reserved for family breakfasts.
Alcohol Hack and Indulgences
When it comes to alcohol, Katie substitutes booze with sparkling water, which she always keeps stocked in the fridge. If she does indulge, bread—such as toast or sandwiches—is her go-to hangover cure. Her sweet tooth craves chocolate, but she avoids bars with raisins or nuts, stating she is "only in it for the chocolate." An unusual treat is the juice from gherkins, beetroot, and silver-skin onions, which she drinks on Friday nights. Despite her broad palate, Katie admitted she hates canned tuna so much that she "refuses" to date anyone who eats it. Her comfort food is chicken nuggets, chips, and beans, evoking childhood memories from the 1990s.
Past Date Horror Story
Katie also recounted a distressing dating experience where a man left her with a £740 restaurant bill. The incident occurred after she had undergone pioneering treatment for facial disfigurement resulting from a horrific acid attack orchestrated by her ex-boyfriend when she was 24. Speaking at the Hay Festival, she explained that she met a man in a bar, and they messaged for a long time before he suggested dinner. The date chose the upscale Japanese restaurant Nobu in central London and ordered a three-course meal. Upon realizing her facial disfigurement in daylight, he excused himself to greet acquaintances and never returned. Katie, then living on disability benefits, had to pay the entire bill. Shockingly, the man contacted her years later after seeing her on Strictly Come Dancing, not to apologize but to joke about catching up. Katie wished she had responded more assertively but simply replied, "Lol yeah, let's do that. Haha."
