Tottenham fear Dominic Solanke could miss rest of season with hamstring tear
Tottenham fear Solanke out for season with hamstring tear

Tottenham are facing the prospect of losing another first-team player for the remainder of the season, as Dominic Solanke is feared to have sustained a significant hamstring injury. The forward hobbled off after just 40 minutes of Spurs' crucial 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, a win that kept them within touching distance of rivals West Ham United in the battle for Premier League survival.

Solanke's injury-hit campaign

Solanke's season has been plagued by injuries, limiting him to only 20 appearances across all competitions. He had only recently returned from a lengthy ankle problem in January, but now faces another spell on the sidelines. Reports indicate that he may have suffered a grade two hamstring tear, with a typical recovery period of three to eight weeks. This leaves a glimmer of hope that he could feature again before the season ends, but the timing is tight.

World Cup hopes in doubt

The injury also casts doubt on Solanke's chances of being selected for England's World Cup squad this summer. He had been competing with Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the role of Harry Kane's understudy. With the tournament just 44 days away, his participation is now uncertain.

Solanke joins a growing list of Tottenham casualties. Midfielder Xavi Simons, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the same match against Wolves, is ruled out until 2027. Simons had been a key figure under manager Roberto De Zerbi, scoring a stunning goal in the recent 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion. His absence will be keenly felt as Spurs fight to avoid relegation.

Club captain Cristian Romero is also out for the rest of the campaign, alongside other sidelined stars such as Mohammed Kudus, Guglielmo Vicario, and Dejan Kulusevski.

Despite the victory at Wolves, Tottenham remain in the relegation zone after Callum Wilson's stoppage-time winner for West Ham against Everton. The club's injury crisis continues to deepen as they face a critical run of fixtures.
