Octopus Energy claims that customers could save up to 90% on their electricity bills by installing a specific solar device at home. The supplier, widely regarded as one of the top energy providers in the UK, says the savings are achievable through its solar power scheme.
The company explains that for a medium-use home with a 10-panel and 5kWh battery system on a standard tariff, the annual electricity bill could drop from £904 to £81, a saving of £823 or 91%. Customers can also benefit from the Intelligent Octopus Flux tariff, which could generate up to £300 profit per year by selling electricity back to the grid.
Octopus Energy offers flexible payment options for solar installation, including upfront payment or monthly instalments. All solar panels come with a 25-year product warranty, along with warranties on batteries and workmanship. Customers can request a tailored quote via the Octopus Energy website.
Research suggests that solar panels can increase property value. A University of Cambridge study indicates a 16% value uplift for new-build homes with sufficient solar and battery storage, while existing homes with solar panels or heat pumps see a 2-3% increase, according to the Sustainable Markets Initiative's Cleantech Homes report.
