Hyundai Recalls 36,496 Tucsons in Australia

Hyundai has issued a recall for thousands of its Tucson SUVs in Australia due to a defect in the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system. The recall affects 36,496 vehicles from the 2025–2026 model years.

Braking System Fault

According to the recall notice, the vehicle's AEB system may continue to apply the brakes even after it is no longer necessary to avoid a collision or reduce impact. The issue stems from a software problem in the Forward Collision Avoidance system, which can cause sudden or unexpected braking.

The notice warns: 'Sudden or unexpected braking may increase the risk of an accident, which can result in injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.'
