National Lottery Launches Powerball in UK with Jackpots Up to £1 Billion
National Lottery Powerball UK Launch July 21

The National Lottery is introducing Powerball to the UK for the first time, with tickets going on sale from June 21. The opening draw will take place on June 23, marking the game's debut outside the United States. Jackpots typically start at around £12 million and can roll over to as much as £1 billion or more.

Game Details and Pricing

UK players will pay £4 per line to compete with their US counterparts for the shared jackpot, which will be paid out over 30 years. The UK version includes an extra "match two main numbers" prize tier exclusive to UK players, offering a fixed prize of £8. The "match five main numbers" tier provides a fixed prize of £1 million, while other UK prize tiers will vary depending on the balls drawn and the number of winners.

Lotto Overhaul

Powerball follows the National Lottery's biggest overhaul to its Lotto game since 1994. From June 7, players get two chances to win with every £2 ticket. This change is expected to more than double the number of Lotto millionaires annually, from around 140 to about 345.
