Rochelle Humes Offers Glimpse into Major Progress on Family's Custom-Built 'Forever Home'

Television presenter and former Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes has delighted fans with a fresh update on the substantial construction progress of her family's highly anticipated 'forever home' in north London. The star, alongside her husband Marvin Humes, shared new imagery from the building site via Instagram, revealing that significant milestones have been reached in the ambitious project.

Latest Developments and Architectural Details

In her recent social media posts, Rochelle highlighted that the ground floor now features newly installed panelled glass doors, which open out onto a spacious garden area. She captured a moment where sunlight streamed through these impressive doors, and the couple marked the occasion by forming a heart shape with their hands against the property's exposed red brick wall.

"Had a final meeting of the day at the new house," Rochelle captioned the update, indicating her hands-on involvement in the process. Additional photos confirmed that the upper-floor windows have also been successfully fitted, marking another key step forward from the shell-like state the building was in towards the end of the previous year.

A Journey from Concept to Construction

The couple first announced their plans to build this custom property in June 2023, describing it as a spontaneous decision made after receiving an unexpected offer on their previous £3.3 million family home in the same general area. They subsequently purchased a plot of land in a location they have long adored.

To bring their vision to life, Rochelle has enlisted the expertise of architectural designer Sal O'Connor. The project represents a first for the couple, who have admitted to watching programmes like Grand Designs for inspiration throughout the planning stages.

Timeline and Family Adjustments

Rochelle has hinted that the property should be much closer to completion by 2026. "In the next two weeks all windows will be in and in the new year things will look a lot different," she optimistically noted in her update.

In the interim, the family—which includes daughters Alaia-Mai, 12, and Valentina, 8, and son Blake, 4—is residing in a rental property. This temporary arrangement is expected to last for approximately two years while construction continues. Rochelle has humorously referred to herself and Marvin as being "a little bit gypsy at heart" due to their fondness for new adventures and moves.

The couple has firmly stated their intention for this to be their permanent family base, ensuring stability for their children who will remain in their current schools. This project marks a significant new chapter for the Humes family as they meticulously craft their dream home from the ground up.
