Morrisons has issued a recall for its Maple & Bacon Back of the Net snack after discovering that some packs may contain milk, which is not listed on the ingredient label. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall on Saturday, June 27, warning that the product poses a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
Affected Product Details
The affected product is the 140g Morrisons Maple & Bacon Back of the Net, with a best-before date of August 22, 2026. The FSA stated that some packs may have been packed with the wrong product, leading to the presence of undeclared milk. The snack, a football-themed corn and rice treat, features a sweet and savoury smoky maple-bacon flavour and a net-like shape.
Customer Guidance
Morrisons has urged customers who have purchased the affected product not to eat it and to return it to their nearest store for a full refund. No receipt is required. The supermarket has also issued point-of-sale notices explaining the recall and has contacted allergy support organisations to inform their members. A Morrisons customer notice read: 'Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don't need receipt. No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.'
Health Risk
According to the FSA, milk is a common allergen, and consumption by those with allergies or intolerances can cause symptoms ranging from mild reactions like hives to severe anaphylaxis. The recall highlights the importance of accurate labelling for allergen management. The FSA advises anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance to check their pantry for the affected product and follow the recall instructions.
