Asda is set to open a standalone George store at Cortonwood Retail Park in Barnsley on Thursday, July 9, marking the sixth such location launched by the supermarket giant. The 28,000sq ft concept store will transform the former Asda Living branch, which closed on June 28 to accommodate the conversion.
Store Features and Product Range
The new George store will stock the brand's full clothing range for women, men, and children, alongside an expanded George Home department. Shoppers can browse bedding, bathroom accessories, dining essentials, home décor, and seasonal collections. The branch will also feature refurbished fitting rooms, additional self-service checkouts, and a faster parcel collection service, according to The Sun.
Investment and Growth
George Vice President Karl Doyle said: "We’re excited to bring our latest standalone George store concept to South Yorkshire and give local customers an even better way to shop our fashion and home collections. This investment in Barnsley reflects our commitment to continuing to grow the George brand and enhancing the experience we offer customers. We've created a modern shopping destination that brings together our best fashion and home ranges in one place, and we look forward to welcoming shoppers through the doors in July."
While George is primarily available inside Asda supermarkets, the standalone stores offer a dedicated space for the brand. The Barnsley location joins five other standalone George stores across the UK, as Asda continues to expand the concept.
