A London pizzeria has been crowned the best in Europe at the 2026 50 Top Pizza Awards. Napoli on the Road, founded by Michele Pascarella, also boasts a pizza that was named the world's best last year, available for under £20.
UK Pizzeria Tops European Rankings
The 50 Top Pizza guide, described as the world's most comprehensive and influential pizza industry guide, awarded Napoli on the Road the title of Best Pizzeria in Europe 2026. The experts praised the restaurant as "one of the most dynamic and influential realities of contemporary pizza in the world."
Pascarella's dough was highlighted as "one of the most successful elements: light, airy, and designed to support often original but never excessive toppings." The menu reflects "continuous research, with proposals that follow seasonality, quality of raw materials, and a creative sensitivity that is always well controlled."
From Three-Wheel Truck to Award-Winning Chain
Napoli on the Road began in 2016 as a three-wheel truck with a wood-fired oven, travelling London's streets and farmers' markets. Pascarella noted that working at farmers' markets helped develop a passion for high-quality, seasonal products. The restaurant now has three permanent locations in London: Chiswick, Richmond, and a newly opened Soho branch.
World-Renowned Pizza and Accolades
Last year, the Ricordi d'Infanzia pizza—topped with slow-cooked beef ragù, parmigiano reggiano DOP fondue, grated parmigiano, and basil—was named the world's best pizza by 50 Top Pizza. Pascarella himself was named World Pizza Maker of the Year in 2023 by 50 Top Pizza and Best International Pizza Maker 2024 by the Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC.
