Little Waitrose in Jesmond, one of Newcastle's most affluent suburbs, will close for five weeks starting this weekend for a multi-million pound makeover. The store on Osborne Road will shut at 8pm on Saturday, July 4, as part of Waitrose's £1bn investment programme.
What to Expect from the Refurbished Store
The transformed store will feature a new look bakery, updated beer, wine and spirits sections, and improved fruit and vegetable displays with more products. The layout will be redesigned for easier shopping, and new refrigeration will improve energy efficiency. Electronic shelf labels will also be introduced.
Manager's Comments
Branch Manager Anji Hewat, who leads a team of 50 partners, said: “We are delighted that our branch is undergoing a refurbishment to provide an even better shopping experience for everyone. We can’t wait for you to see our fresh, modern store, including the fantastic products Waitrose is famous for. Please bear with us while we transform the space and we look forward to welcoming you back when we reopen in August!”
Alternative Stores for Shoppers
While the Jesmond store is closed, customers can visit the nearest Waitrose branches in Ponteland and Hexham.
