Marks and Spencer has once again elevated its food offerings, and with summer approaching, the retailer has launched a range of picnic essentials that are proving irresistible to shoppers. The new lineup includes a super-sized sausage roll and a variety of Pocket Pies, all crafted with the company's signature all-butter puff pastry.
New Picnic Range from M&S
The centrepiece of the collection is the Ultimate Sharing Sausage Roll, made with outdoor-bred British pork and smoked bacon, wrapped in handcrafted puff pastry. Designed to serve six, it can be enjoyed hot or cold. M&S described the pastry offerings as "next level," encouraging customers to bring a knife for slicing.
Alongside the sausage roll, M&S has introduced Pocket Pies in several flavours:
- Chicken Fajitas: British chicken with roasted red peppers and fajita spices.
- Barbecue Pork: British pork and smoked bacon in a sweet and smoky sauce.
- Margherita Pizza: Roasted tomatoes and mozzarella in a herby tomato sauce.
- Spanakopita: Spinach and feta with cream cheese and lemon zest.
These products are available at M&S food halls and on Ocado. Shoppers have expressed excitement, with comments like "Just got my hands on them, can't wait to try them" and drooling emojis. However, some requested more vegan options, and one noted that the pocket pie's appearance differs from the photo.
Best Ever Melton Mowbray Pork Pie
M&S also unveiled its "meatiest ever" pork pie, the Best Ever Melton Mowbray Pork Pie. Handcrafted with outdoor-bred British pork shoulder and diced silverside, it is encased in rich pork stock jelly and wrapped in thick hot water crust pastry, glazed with egg and handcrimped. The company asked, "Who are you sharing with?"
