Superdrug, one of the UK's largest health and beauty retailers with 789 stores nationwide, has opened a new 'enhanced' branch in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire. The relocated store, now located in the Plaza Shopping Centre, spans 5,500 sq. ft and offers customers an expanded product range, including K-beauty favourites and luxury fragrances. The opening on June 26 created two additional permanent jobs.
Enhanced Shopping Experience
The new unit provides more space for customers to browse an extensive selection of skincare, cosmetics, and own-brand items from popular ranges such as B., Studio London, Me+, Vitamin E, and Optimum. The store also features trending K-beauty products, catering to the growing demand for Korean beauty trends in the Western market.
Clare Jennings, Property Director at Superdrug, said: “We’re delighted to unveil our newly relocated store at The Plaza Shopping Centre in East Kilbride. This investment strengthens Superdrug’s presence in Scotland and enables us to offer an enhanced shopping experience, with a wider range of health and beauty products, premium fragrances and the latest trending brands for our customers.”
Local Impact and Job Creation
The relocation has created two extra permanent jobs, supporting the local economy. Jennings added: “The relocation has also created additional jobs, supporting the local economy and providing valuable employment opportunities within the area.” The East Kilbride Plaza store is the second Superdrug in the area, joining the existing branch at Kingsgate Shopping Park.
Superdrug's Expansion in Scotland
With around 65 stores across Scotland, Superdrug continues to invest in its portfolio. Earlier in June, the retailer opened its first professional aesthetics clinic in Scotland at its Glasgow Fort branch, offering treatments like anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, and lip fillers for customers aged 18 and over. Additionally, Superdrug recently returned to Kilmarnock with a 10,000 sq. ft superstore at Queen's Drive Retail Park, replacing a store closed in 2020.
