Shop Home Styles is an AI-powered website that helps UK home decor shoppers find furniture by simply uploading a photo from Pinterest, Instagram or their camera roll. The platform, backed by Fuel Ventures, eliminates the need for keyword searches and provides accurate matches based on visual inspiration.
How It Works
Users upload a picture of their desired furniture piece, and the AI scans products from over 100 furniture and homeware brands across the UK and US. This allows shoppers to browse and compare multiple retailers in one place. Founder Giedre Gabrenaite explained: "Consumers don't struggle because there aren't enough furniture options online. They struggle because finding the right one is still far too difficult. We built ShopHomeStyles to close the gap between inspiration and purchase, helping people discover the products they actually want, not just the products that happen to rank highest in search results."
Brands and Product Range
Brands featured include Anthropologie, Wilko, Furniture123, Emma, Ruggable, Dunelm, Marks and Spencer, and more. The platform covers small items like mugs, tableware, coasters, cushions, cutlery, and kitchen storage, as well as larger furniture such as sofas, bed frames, and pouffes. Shopping journalist Eve Rowlands tested the site and found it straightforward with impressively accurate results.
Real-World Example
Rowlands searched for an alternative to her dream Oliver Bonas bedspread, priced at £165. After uploading a Pinterest image of the bedspread, Shop Home Styles presented options including the Anthropologie Iluka Printed Quilted Bedspread at £148, the Secret Linen Stella Quilted Bedspread at £149 (reduced to £119.20), and the more budget-friendly Catherine Lansfield Autumn Patchwork Geometric Bedspread from Dunelm at £35. The platform also suggested Anthropologie's Two-Way Printed Quilted Throw Blanket at £78.
Room for Improvement
Rowlands noted that she would like to see more budget-friendly, UK-based brands, such as Oliver Bonas, H&M Home, Piglet In Bed, Dusk, Habitat, and La Redoute. For users without a specific inspiration image, the site offers browsing by category, similar to Wayfair, which stocks brands like B&M, Bedsure, Simba, Ninja, Le Creuset, and Furniture Box.
