Arsenal Hold Talks for Bruno Guimaraes After Tonali

Arsenal have held talks with Bruno Guimaraes' representatives as the Gunners weigh up a move for the Newcastle United star. Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his squad after Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for a Premier League title, targeting a right-back, a central midfielder, a winger and a forward.

Guimaraes Emerges as New Target

Guimaraes, currently part of the Brazil squad at the World Cup, has emerged as a new target with the Daily Mail reporting his representatives are 'gauging the market' for the 28-year-old. Talks have taken place between Arsenal officials and the player's camp, and Newcastle are bracing themselves for an approach from the league champions.

Interest in Sandro Tonali

Arsenal are also among the clubs interested in signing another Newcastle star in Sandro Tonali, who was offered to them during the January transfer window. Competition for the Italy international is intense, with Manchester City and Manchester United also admirers. Tottenham have also emerged as an interested party over the last week, seeing a £75 million offer for the Brazilian rejected.

Newcastle's Asking Price

Reports in March claimed United explored a move for Guimaraes as a possible long-term successor for Casemiro. ESPN Brasil claimed an offer of €80 million (£69 million) would be needed to tempt Newcastle into doing business. Newcastle have already lost one key player this summer with Anthony Gordon leaving Tyneside to join Barcelona.

Other Midfield Targets

Arsenal have been credited with a number of midfield options including Lille star Ayyoub Bouaddi, currently starring for Morocco at the World Cup. France's Manu Kone is another target while Bournemouth's Alex Scott is also the subject of interest from north London. Morgan Rogers is a target to strengthen Arteta's attacking options with the Aston Villa star said to be keen on a switch to the Emirates. The Mail report however it could take an offer of more than £100 million to tempt them into doing business.
