Man United Could Bank £15m Windfall from Vitek Sale

Manchester United could land a transfer windfall this summer by selling young goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who impressed on loan at Bristol City in the Championship. The Czech Republic youth international has two years remaining on his contract, and United may opt for a permanent sale if the price is right.

Onana and Bayindir Departures Loom

Andre Onana is closing in on another loan move to Trabzonspor after United failed to secure a permanent sale. The club will receive a loan fee and Trabzonspor will cover his wages for a second season. Meanwhile, Altay Bayindir is expected to leave in search of regular game time, with his future to be addressed after the World Cup.

United Need a New Number Two

United will need to sign a new goalkeeper to serve as second choice. Karl Darlow and Sam Johnstone are on the club's list of targets, partly because they can be registered as homegrown players. Premier League rules require at least eight homegrown players in a 25-man squad. Johnstone, a 33-year-old academy graduate with over 400 senior appearances, is a solid option United have considered for years.

Vitek's Future: Sale or Stay?

Radek Vitek would be an excellent deputy to Senne Lammens, but he wants regular starts at this stage of his career. United could agree to a permanent sale this summer if the money was right, and the Reds would insist on inserting clauses into any deal. The academy has a strong record of producing goalkeepers: United sold Dean Henderson to Crystal Palace for £15m plus £5m in add-ons in 2023, and Matej Kovar moved to Bayer Leverkusen for €9m (£7.78m) in the same window.

Potential Windfall

Given the precedent set by Henderson and Kovar, United could bank a significant fee for Vitek. The club's goalkeeper department is set for a major overhaul, with Onana and Bayindir leaving and a new signing expected to arrive.
