Man Utd: £60m Leao Agreement, Ederson Deal, Mee New Contract

Manchester United are yet to make a signing in the summer transfer window, but that could change as manager Michael Carrick eyes major recruits. The Red Devils have an 'agreement in place' for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, while a £35 million deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson is pending the end of Brazil's World Cup campaign. Additionally, goalkeeper Dermot Mee has signed a new two-year contract.

Rafael Leao 'Agreement' Reached

According to Sky Sport Italia, AC Milan have consented to Rafael Leao's departure should they receive a bid of £51-60 million for the winger. The 27-year-old, currently playing for Portugal at the World Cup, has made clear his intention to leave the Italian club this summer. Leao has been identified by Manchester United as a potential signing after an injury-hit campaign where he contributed 10 goals and three assists in 31 appearances. A deal at the reported figures would allow Milan to make a profit on the £42.4 million they paid Lille in 2019.

Expressing his desire to leave, Leao told Sport TV: "I think I gave Milan everything I could give. It is a club that helped me grow a lot and supported me through difficult moments. I am happy to have left my mark on the club's history." He added: "Everyone has their dreams, their challenges, the things they want, the goals they want to achieve. And I also want to take on a new challenge in a new league." The media outlet claims Milan would be willing to allow Leao to depart on loan with an obligation to buy next summer but would prefer an outright sale.

Ederson Transfer Pending World Cup

Manchester United's first signing under Michael Carrick is anticipated to be Atalanta midfielder Ederson, though his £35 million transfer cannot be finalized until Brazil's 2026 World Cup campaign concludes. With Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's lengthy injury layoff, at least one midfielder, possibly two, is expected to arrive to strengthen Carrick's options in midfield.

Dermot Mee Signs New Contract

Goalkeeper Dermot Mee has agreed a fresh two-year deal to extend his stay at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old's contract expired this week but he was retained after being offered new terms. Still to make a senior appearance for United, Mee has featured 27 times for the U21s and has limited first-team experience, including four appearances for Altrincham in the National League during the 2022/23 season. He has also represented Trafford, Runcorn Linnets, and Witton Albion.

The club's announcement stated: "The academy graduate will continue to provide excellent support and competition for the goalkeeper group." The Birmingham-born stopper, who has represented Northern Ireland at youth level, has played a key role in first-team training in recent years while representing the Under-21s in competitive fixtures. The statement added: "The impressive 23-year-old is continuing to develop with this latest contract renewal a further reward for his contributions. Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Dermot on his new deal."
