According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, the meeting is expected to take place soon, but any deal will not come cheap. The report states that Real Madrid will not entertain offers below £85 million for the French international, and that Tchouameni himself is keen to stay at the Bernabeu.
Positive Relations Between Clubs Could Help
Despite the high price tag and the player's reluctance, Diario AS notes that recent transfer history between the two clubs could smooth negotiations. In 2021, Raphael Varane moved from Real Madrid to Manchester United, followed by Casemiro in 2022. The report suggests that these past deals have fostered a positive working relationship, keeping both clubs aligned on transfer matters.
First Summer Signing Still Pending
Carrick is yet to secure his first signing since taking permanent charge. Atalanta midfielder Ederson was expected to be the first arrival, but his move has been delayed due to his World Cup commitments and an outstanding medical.
